Re: Site recovery contracts

The island. ██████████

Following an incident at our island research facility, a number of ZenGen staff are no longer fit for work. They are still on site. They are hostile.

Our dinosaurs are unaffected. They are immune, they are wild, and they remain company property. Any asset a contractor destroys will be deducted from that contractor's work credits.

Site power is failing. Work on the island is posted as contracts, on the island map. Pick one.

  1. Our sky-crane drops your crew in with a ZenGen Asset Recovery Vehicle: an armoured, mobile base.
  2. You do the job.
  3. The helicopter lifts you out. Your haul is turned in, and your crew is credited.

The vehicle stays in your care between contracts, repaired and recharged. ████████████

Some staff are believed to have survived. Where commercially justified, their recovery will be posted as a contract.

ZenGen thanks you for your discretion.
Losses are within tolerance.

Contract terms

What the job involves

The main menu: the voxel island map, the list of missions, and the briefing for Quay Sweep, a tier 1 clear-out.

01

Take the contract

  1. Pick a job on the island map.
  2. The sky-crane drops you and the rig in.
  3. Do the job. The helicopter lifts you out.
  4. ZenGen pays your crew in work credits.

Earn enough and ZenGen clears you for contracts deeper in. Done a job? Run it again for 60% of the credits.

02

Co-op for 1–8

Go solo, or bring up to seven friends over Steam. One drives, one takes the roof, the rest go out the back and into the trees. Talk it through on voice chat: nobody else is listening.

Torchlight in a dark facility lab: a turned lab hand by a specimen jar.

03

Down the hatch

The facilities are open to explore, and the power is failing: lamps flicker, rooms are dead, alarms sound somewhere below. Hatches lead down to basements, cold rooms and vaults. The best loot is deepest. So is everything else.

Inside the rig: the LED mission board over the lockers by the jump seats, a Clear job on it, the cold store aft.

04

Four kinds of job

Rescue
Survivors hiding in containers, cold stores, behind wrecks. Find them before the turned do.
Clear
Put down every one of the turned in a facility's yard.
DNA
Dart an animal and take a sample. Don't kill it. Yes, even the rex.
Data
Pull the CCTV drives from the facility terminals.

17 contracts in four tiers, from the landing out into the deep island.

Through the field camera: five crewmates in hi-vis, a lab coat and a loud shirt pose in front of a Triceratops.

05

Your crew, your look

Build your character at the wardrobe: face, hair, build, name and number. Find clothes in the facilities, or buy them with your own work credits. Thirteen emotes, spray paint for the rig, a jukebox for the drive.

Between jobs: the crew on a sofa in the support ship's hangar, the rig parked behind them.

06

Your kit, any crew

Your guns and pack are saved on your own machine and come with you into any friend's game. Collect storage crates: rack them on the rig's roof, or stow them in the ship between jobs.

The rig's fabricator printing, its screen listing ammunition and gear.

07

Repair tool & reprinter

Strip wrecks and fences with the repair tool and feed the parts to the fabricator: it prints ammo, medical supplies and gear. The same tool patches the rig. Lose someone, and the reprinter prints them back.

08

Their footage, and yours

The terminals still hold the outbreak's CCTV. ZenGen wants the drives back unviewed. Watch them anyway. Carry a camera, print your own tapes, and the end credits roll your crew's footage.

The rig

Your base drives. One armoured rig, yours from job to job: the sky-crane drops it in with your crew, the helicopter lifts it out. Fight from its roof, bring the haul home aboard it.

Cutaway drawing of the rig's stations in three zones: by the door the camera station, tool rack and armoury; mid-rig the jump seats facing the mission board; at the back the lab bench with the fabricator, the cold store and the reprinter. The cab and its radar up front.

Zone 1By the door

Armoury
Lethal and non-lethal. Real guns, blades, and a dart gun for the property.
Tool rack
The repair tool, the mender and the DNA samplers. Grab them on the way out.
Camera station
Dock the cameras. Name your footage, print the tapes.

Zone 2Mid-rig

Mission board
The rig's big LED screen: the job, the map, what's left to do.
Jump seats
Three of them, under the lockers.

Zone 3At the back

Lab bench
The sequencer reads your samples. The fabricator prints ammo, med supplies and gear.
Cold store
DNA rides home cold, or ZenGen won't credit it.
Reprinter
Fallen crew, printed back. ZenGen is confident it's the same person.

PlusRoof & cab

Roof deck
Gunners up top while the rig rolls through the trees. Crates ride on the rack.
Cab · Radar
One drives. The radar on the dash shows what's moving nearby.

Frequently asked

FAQ

When does it come out?

Steam Early Access opens on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 10:00 am Pacific (17:00 UTC).

How much will it cost?

Price to be announced before launch. The Discord hears first.

What platforms?

Windows PC, on Steam.

How many players?

One to eight, in online co-op over Steam. Solo works too.

Can I bring my gear into a friend's game?

Yes. Your guns, pack and clothes are saved on your own machine and come with you into any crew.

Why Early Access, and what's planned?

The whole loop is there at launch: 17 contracts, from the landing out into the deep island. Pick a job, drop in with the rig, earn work credits, keep the rig for the next one.

Early Access is where we grow it with the people playing it: more contracts, more of the story, more for the rig. The roadmap will be posted on the Steam page and in ZenGen Comms, and it will move with what the crew tells us.

Do the zombies run?

Mostly they shamble. Some run, and more of them after dark. Pick Shamblers, Mixed or Sprinters in the zombie speed setting.

Can I shoot the dinosaurs?

You can. ZenGen will dock your work credits. There is a tranquilizer dart gun for a reason.
